Scientific assistant at the Institute of Agricultural Engineering Bonn and deputy head of the department of farm animal husbandry.

Research areas

Dr Maack works as an academic senior councillor in research and teaching at the Institute of Agricultural Engineering with a focus on forage harvesting and forage conservation. Before studying agricultural sciences, he completed an apprenticeship as a farmer on arable farms in the Rhineland. After his studies, he completed a doctorate on the topic of "Investigations into storage density in fodder preservation in film tubes". In research work based on this, among other things in cooperation with the CAU Beijing, physical, chemical and microbial influences on silage stability are investigated. The focus here is on model silages from 1.5l jars to 120l drums. Another field of work is the implementation of new research ideas in project applications on various topics.
